Police reported Saturday that multiple people were shot during a gay pride parade in Washington, D.C., after the original security measures were protested by activists and ultimately nixed by officials.

Gray skies and drizzle gave way to sunshine, multicolored flags and celebrations as the nation’s capital hosted the World Pride parade.

It will be a protest-filled week and weekend for Central Ohio and Columbus. Multiple No Kings protests and a Pride march are scheduled.

Washington hosted its annual pride parade Saturday. This year it's part of the 50th anniversary of WorldPride.

The city holds a local Pride parade annually. But this year’s event will be much bigger, as Washington hosts the WorldPride Parade, which attracts visitors from around the world. Sydney hosted it last time, and Amsterdam is up next.
