The Pac-12 Conference on Monday officially added Texas State to its membership, beginning July 1, 2026. The Bobcats will become the conference’s eighth football-playing full member and finally give the rebuilt league the minimum number of members to continue as an NCAA conference.

Texas State is joining the Pac-12, giving the rebuilding conference the eighth football-playing school it needed to maintain its status as an FBS conference.

A quest that began four commissioners ago was completed Monday when the Bobcats accepted an invitation from the rebuilt Pac-12 to join the conference next summer as the eighth all-sports member.

The move comes after more than a year of planning at DMV and dealer level following a bill signed by Governor Abbott in 2023
