At Willard Beach in South Portland, a nearly five-foot-wide lion’s mane jellyfish was spotted over the weekend, according to the city’s parks and recreation department. Lifeguards have been trained to safely remove jellyfish that wash ashore using tools like shovels.

OGUNQUIT (WGME) – Jellyfish warnings have been issued by several southern Maine communities along the coast. Ogunquit's fire chief says about six people have been stung in the past week alone. The chief wants beachgoers to keep that in mind if they’re planning to get in the water.
