President Donald Trump is withdrawing roughly half of the National Guard force sent to Los Angeles to quell the anti-ICE riots that engulfed the city last month. Nearly 4,000 National Guard soldiers and 700 Marines have been guarding federal facilities in Los Angeles for more than a month,

President Trump mobilized the troops on June 7 in the wake of chaotic protests. They have remained in Southern California several weeks after most of the demonstrations had ended.

The troops were controversially deployed to Los Angeles last month amid protests against immigration raids being carried out in the city.
