The St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies seem destined to come together on a trade in the coming days, and Ryan Helsley could be a centerpiece.

Following a six-run inning powered by three-run homers from Brendan Donovan and Willson Contreras, the Cardinals bullpen combined to keep the Padres scoreless for four innings in a 9-7 win.

MLB insider Jon Heyman recently reported the Yankees’ interest in Donovan if he were made available: “All-Star INF Brendan Donovan would interest the Yankees, if he’s available. Many teams would be. Astros, too. Unclear how deep Cardinals sale will be.”

The New York Yankees are also looking at Arizona’s Eugenio Suarez, but Brendan Donovan’s skills and versatility make him a prime target.
