New details about Vance Boelter, accused of fatally shooting a state lawmaker and her husband, were revealed in court documents.

Heavily armed and dressed in tactical armor with a silicone mask hiding his face and a police-style badge, Vance Boelter made a convincing police officer – so much so that a real police officer mistook him for a fellow cop.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office unsealed the criminal complaint charging Vance Boelter with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree attempted murder.

Vance Boelter's wife was involved in a traffic stop on the day of the Minnesota shooting but was not taken into custody.

Vance Boelter, 57, has been charged in the shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses. The Hennepin County Attorney said Monday that her office intends to pursue first-degree murder charges against him as well.

She remembers friendlier encounters with Boelter and his wife before Sunday night arrest for killing of former House Speaker Melissa Hortman.

A spokesperson for Sen. Tammy Baldwin confirmed that the senator was included on the "list of names" authorities say belonged to the man accused of fatally shooting a Minnesota state representative and her husband and wounding a state senator and his wife.
