Air India flight makes precautionary return to Hong Kong as the airline mourns 241 victims of recent crash that left only one survivor.

The head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Stephanie Pope, met the chairman of Air India on Monday in India, two sources said, as the companies seek to find the cause of last week's fatal crash involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

An Air India plane with more than 200 people on board crashed near the airport in India's city of Ahmedabad, the airline and police officials said.

The technical investigation into the crash of Air India’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft operating flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick is being conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).

The seven-year-old Boeing 787-8 had only reached 22,000 feet before it hit the unexpected descent — prompting the pilot to turn the aircraft around quickly, according to AirNav radar.

Payal Khatik was amongst the 230 passengers on the Air India Ahmedabad-Gatwick flight which crashed after just taking off from Ahmedabad airport.

All but one of the 242 people on board the London-bound flight died when it crashed into a residential area in Ahmedabad shortly after take-off.
