The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly targeting Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suarez in trade talks, aiming to bolster their infield depth and provide lineup protection for Bryce Harper.
Major League Baseball's trade deadline is scheduled for next Thursday, which means teams have less than a week to get their midsummer shopping done. The moves have already started, as the Mariners recently acquired Josh Naylor from the Diamondbacks while the Yankees acquired Ryan McMahon in a trade with the Rockies.
Philadelphia's interest in the slugger appears to have come out of nowhere, with the rib injury to Alec Bohm causing Dombrowski and his front office to take a deeper look at trading for someone who would bring real pop to this lineup and lengthen the order.
