Firefighters made progress battling a wind-driven brush fire burning in steep, rugged terrain south of Apple Valley overnight. The Ranch fire, which has burned through 4,205 acres of vegetation, is now 10% contained, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection announced Wednesday morning.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY – Cal Fire crews on Wednesday were battling a brush fire in the Pacheco Pass. The blaze, dubbed the Dino Fire, ignited just before 3 p.m. on eastbound Highway 152 at Dinosaur Point Road, according to Cal Fire. As of 3:40 p.m., the fire had consumed 20 acres and was 0% contained.
Officials say the Jade Fire is currently holding at approximately three acres in size in the Montague area. Authorities are asking residents to please avoid the area due to emergency
Cal Fire crews responded to a fire near the San Luis Reservoir in Santa Clara County that began around 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The fire had grown to 200 acres around 5:40 p.m., and Cal Fire said they had achieved 45% containment. Named the Dino Fire, it started burning near eastbound Highway 152 and Dinosaur Point Road.
