In a sermon on a major Christian holiday, Pope Leo XIV appeared to take a shot at travel bans recently put in place by President Donald Trump. GB News in Great Britain reported that the newly elected pontiff used his first Pentecost Sunday Mass to slam the rise of “nationalist political movements” and to condemn an “exclusionary mindset.”
The pontiff addressed a massive crowd, estimated by the Vatican at around 70,000, in St. Peter’s Square on June 7 during a prayer vigil there.
The Holy Father asked for the intercession of Our Lady, Queen of Peace before praying his first Angelus in the square in Latin and urging his listeners to pray for the end of conflicts in different parts of the world.
Pope Leo XIV has criticized the surge of nationalist political movements in the world as he prayed for reconciliation and dialogue.
Pope Leo XIV has taken a swipe at Donald Trump's travel ban during his weekly Sunday sermon. Last week, the US President banned citizens from 19 countries from entering the United States. The sweeping restrictions affect 12 countries with complete entry bans: Afghanistan,
