The British government said on Thursday it planned to give 16 and 17-year-olds the right to vote in all UK elections in a major overhaul of the country’s democratic system.

The UK government intends to allow 16-year-olds to vote in all elections, alongside measures for broader voter ID acceptance and stricter regulations on political donations to address foreign interference.

If passed, the proposed changes would bring the voting age to 16 across the whole of the UK and in line with Scotland and Wales, where 16-year-olds can already vote. View on euronews
