Updates emerging from the second day of training camp for the New England Patriots focus on Drake Maye's short passing game. Maye completed 14 of 15 attempts, with many of them close to the line of scrimmage. The deep ball is part of Maye's arsenal, but today was about 1st down plays and decision-making, which is something he's been criticized for.
New England Patriots Stefon Diggs had some words for working with Drake Maye. While Diggs may have only been on the team since he signed a three-year contract in late March 2025, the Patriots receiver said to NBC Sports Boston he had much to cultivate and teach with the 22-year-old quarterback.
At times, that didn't feel possible for the New England Patriots, but the last half-decade has been a sobering period for a franchise that had the league in a chokehold for the bulk of the millennium.
