A Two-State Solution, based on secure and internationally recognized borders, is the “only viable and equitable path toward a just and lasting peace” in the Holy Land, according to the Vatican.

The “New York Declaration” sets out a phased plan to end the nearly eight-decade conflict and the ongoing war in Gaza. The plan would culminate with an independent, demilitarized Palestine living side by side peacefully with Israel.

Government ministers from more than 100 countries on Monday gathered at the United Nations to consider a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
