Experts say they like the Flyers’ No. 6 pick as Martone was the best player available, but some question marks were raised after they traded up from No. 22 and No. 31 to take Nesbitt at No. 12.

The Philadelphia Flyers completed day one of the 2025 NHL Draft making two picks in the first round which included forward Porter Martone sixth overall from the Brampton Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League and center Jack Nesbitt 12th overall from the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League.

Size became a very clear trend across the Flyers' 2025 draft haul, but assistant GM Brent Flahr said that was only part of the team's equation this weekend.
