Grant Hardin, the one-time Arkansas police chief who escaped from prison where he was serving sentences for murder and rape, has been recaptured, according to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office.

A former Arkansas police chief who escaped from a prison 12 days ago was apprehended about a mile and half from where he was incarcerated in northwest Arkansas.

A new federal court filing shows that investigators believe the convicted murderer and rapist known as the “Devil in the Ozarks” has likely fled Arkansas after escaping prison last month.
