Details of thousands of Afghans who supported UK forces were mistakenly leaked under the last government.

Operation Rubific eventually saw 24,000 Afghans relocated to the UK, at a cost of billions of pounds to the taxpayer, in the "biggest covert evacuation operation in peacetime", said The Spectator.

The government said that information about 18,000 Afghans was accidentally revealed in 2022. A legal order had prevented any reporting on the subject.
